Are you capable of supporting something simply because it is just and what is needed? Do you oppose the increasingly popular idea that healthcare is a human right?

Regardless, let’s address the poll you cite. Should we really believe only 13 percent of Americans support Medicare For All? Is that even plausible given what we know about the kind of support Bernie has?

Bernie consistently polls 20–30 percent in national presidential primary polls. For that poll to be right, half or a little less of his supporters would be entirely opposed to a cornerstone of his political agenda. Do you believe that to be the case? And if so, do you have evidence that many of his supporters oppose his vision for health care?

A Gallup poll in November found 40 percent would support a government-run healthcare system.

“Six-in-ten Americans,” said in October that it was “the federal government’s responsibility to make sure all Americans have health care coverage.” And, “The share of Americans saying health care coverage is a government responsibility remains at its highest level in a decade.”

Nine in ten Americans probably like their health care provider. For the most part, no person will have to give up that provider if the system shifts from health insurance companies paying for it to a government system.

Do you recognize that these poll questions are highly manipulative? Maybe you support that. But the fact is, they are scaring people by saying you will lose your private insurance if the government runs health care. That is true. And no citizen will need private insurance anymore because care will be paid for through tax dollars and various subsidies (presumably) that ensure no one is denied care because they cannot afford it ever again.
