I was on “Rising Up with Sonali,” which is a radio show in Los Angeles, California that airs on KPFK and other Pacifica affiliate stations.
The framing was around what it will take to make Robert Mueller’s report, which is several hundred pages long, public.
About seven to ten minutes into our discussion, I pushed back on some of the consensus around the Mueller investigation, including in progressive media. It opened up our conversation considerably.
It is awful to see President Donald Trump out there celebrating the outcome. To an extent, many of us brought this on ourselves. We let the Mueller investigation define much of the resistance to Trump. All of that has fallen apart, and the appropriate response is not to get pulled into showing Trump is wrong to claim victory.
We need to focus on supporting groups and political campaigns that promote an alternative vision to Trump’s agenda, which allow us to move away from a narrative that has only made neoliberal Democrats, neoconservatives who gave us the Iraq War, and officials within U.S. security-industrial complex more powerful than they were already.
