I'm with you until you rail against "JFK." And I could share my view about Oliver Stone's work over the past 30 years (no, I don't love everything he's made nor have I seen much of what he's done in the past decade). I'll just note that "JFK" came out before "Natural Born Killers." So if Stone turned toward conspiracy propagandist with "JFK," he still managed to make "NBK."
This may be outside of my retrospective. Stone films tend to have numerous autobiographical or idiosyncratic details that are personal to Stone. However, I am not sure how much of Stone's imprint was really left on "NBK." It's more obscured or muted than his prior films, especially with all the creatives that were working on this film.
