In addition to what you write about the premise, I struggled with the fantasy relationship between Percy and Maddie that Gene Stupnitsky because it seemed like a way of dodging the ramifications of Percy’s parents paying a woman to help him lose his virginity.

The characters played by Matthew Broderick and Laura Benant are rich white cryptocurrency investor helicopter parents. They paid someone to be a kept woman for their son until he goes to college. Not only is there comedy to be mined in potentially seeing Percy and Maddie team up to deal with their psychosis, but it just seems like the twisted premise demands more of a response by the characters than what we see.
